Spika does not run a cloud account server. Your ledger lives on your device, and an optional encrypted backup may live in your own Google Drive. You can permanently erase everything — including a Drive backup and your Google link — from inside the app.
1. What gets deleted
When you choose Delete account, Spika permanently removes:
- All transactions, accounts, categories, budgets, goals, and commitments on this device
- Your display name, profile photo, and app preferences
- Your App Lock PIN/biometric settings on this device
- Your encrypted Google Drive backup (if one exists)
- Your Google Sign-In link inside Spika (you stay signed into Google on the device itself)
This action cannot be undone. A deleted Drive backup cannot be recovered without the original App Lock PIN that encrypted it.
2. Delete in the app (recommended)
- Open Spika and unlock with your PIN or biometrics if prompted.
- Go to the Profile tab (last icon in the bottom bar).
- Tap your name or photo at the top of the screen.
- Scroll down and tap Delete account.
- Read both confirmation screens, then tap Delete account on the second one.
Keep the app open until the wipe finishes. If Drive deletion fails (for example, no network), Spika still erases local data and disconnects Google Sign-In.
3. “Delete all data” vs “Delete account”
- Delete all data (same Profile screen) wipes local Spika data but keeps your Google Sign-In link. Your Drive backup is not removed automatically.
- Delete account wipes local data and deletes your Drive backup and Google link inside Spika. Use this when you want a full exit.
To remove only a Drive backup while keeping local data, use backup controls in Settings or delete the backup from your Google account. See our Privacy Policy, Section 6.
4. Data we may retain
- Firebase Analytics & Crashlytics: anonymized usage events and crash reports already sent to Google may be kept for a limited time under Google's standard retention. Uninstalling Spika stops new collection from that device. We do not receive your transaction history through Firebase.
- Google Play: purchase or subscription records (if any in the future) are kept by Google as required for billing and tax law.
- Support email: if you previously emailed spika.support@gmail.com, that correspondence is kept only as long as needed to respond and resolve your request.
5. Can't access the app?
If you uninstalled Spika or no longer have your device:
- Remove any Spika backup from Google account permissions or Google Drive app data (look for Spika / app data folder).
- Email spika.support@gmail.com from the Google address linked to Spika (if you used Sign-In). Include the subject “Spika account deletion request” and we will guide you through removing any remaining backup or linked data we can identify.
We cannot remotely wipe data on a device we do not control. Local data on a lost device is protected only by your device lock and App Lock PIN.
